Getting your home organized is much simpler than most people realize. There is no need to stress out over the thought of organizing a room or closet, especially when you take the time to make a checklist. Starting the process of getting everything organized and more structured can be overwhelming. By simply writing down a list of goals you have for your home and areas that need to be focused on, you can make the process go by much smoother. A checklist is a great way to make organizing manageable and easy.

An organizational checklist should list the most important goals first. Instead of just tackling that overstuffed storage closet head on, it’s a good idea to make a checklist of things that need to be done. By breaking large jobs up into smaller tasks you are much more likely to get the end results that you desire. Instead of just deciding to organize the closet, imagine and list exactly how you want it to be organized. Include on that list, what items need to be stored in there, what items need to be tossed and what items need to be stored elsewhere. Also include on the list exactly how you want to organize the closet. Include what items you need to buy in order to store things properly and also include how often the area needs to be cleaned out throughout the month or year.

Lists are a great way to keep all areas of your home organized. They can also be used to remind family members to keep their closets and desks cleaned out throughout the year.

A cluttered home is neither a restful nor relaxing place in which to spend time, but when you develop a gameplan for how to declutter your home, you can enjoy a more attractive and serene environment in less time than you think.

First, get a big cardboard box and a large garbage bag before you begin tackling any decluttering project. Start with one room at a time and work in a clockwise fashion around the room. Put items you want to donate to charity or put into storage into the cardboard box and items that are old, broken, worn out or no longer functional into the garbage bag for disposal.

Make it a rule to only handle each item once and make a decision on whether you want to let go of it, keep it or toss it.
As you work around each room, clear the tops of cabinets of all clutter and only replace the group of objects with one key item. Go through your library and media shelves and donate old books, tapes and DVDs to your local library. Toss or give away old magazines.

Throw out all old and expired beauty products and medications from the bathroom cupboards and get rid of mismatched towels and accessories that no longer work. In the kitchen, remove anything that is sitting on the counter and put it out of sight, and get rid of any equipment that is duplicated. You really don’t need two woks, coffee makers or blenders.

Invest in some plastic storage bins or compartments that allow you to store items out of sight yet still quickly see what’s inside. Once your home is decluttered, treat yourself to a weekly bouquet of flowers as a reminder to keep everything in its place. And for every new item you bring into the house, get rid of at least two old items to prevent the cluttering process from starting all over again.

We all have clutter in the home. That’s something most of us complain about. However, this is stuff we can’t get rid of. So, how do you organize it so that it doesn’t look like the bunch of junk it really is? Here are some things you can do to make it look nice.

One of the things my husband and I got were accordion files. Now, there are things you need to keep. There are papers you need to keep. Everyone tells you to hang on to this and that, but when you need this or that, you can never find it. Well, file it away in the accordion files.

For those of you who love to wrap presents, but have a huge supply or gift wrap get those storage containers made by Rubbermade. You just put them all in there and then you don’t have to worry about where they went. Actually, Rubbermade containers are nice for a lot of things. You can store them under beds and get the bins for things you aren’t using and you can store those in closets. This is just something else you can get.

For magazines and such that you have sitting around your home, there is an easy solution to that as well. This is what that would be. Why not go about and put them in a magazine rack? Some things tell you what they were intended for. For instance, get a toy box for all your kids’ toys. Get a book shelf for books. It’s pretty simple and these are just a few things that can help you to organize clutter.

When it comes to bedroom organizing there are a few pieces of furniture that can help you. If space is limited you could purchase a platform style bed frame that has a drawer section built into the platform. This frame design is available in adult sized beds as well as single styles for children. Another item that is gaining popularity is the wardrobe closet. This is a piece of furniture used to create extra closet space in a bedroom. This is different than a standard chest of drawers because it includes an inner area with a rod for hanging clothes on.

Many of the popular styles today are designed in a contemporary fashion. The wardrobes will be constructed of wood and have sliding doors that may be constructed of glass, plastic or wood. Some styles will have the glass or plastic doors as frosted items to add a touch of elegance to a room. These wardrobe cabinets are available in assorted designs and heights so you can easily mix and match several to create a professionally designed bedroom with lots of storage.

Another piece of furniture designed to keep a bedroom organized is the shoe shelf or chest. This is a specially designed cabinet unit that may or may not include front doors. The shelves are spaced so you can easily place different sized shoes on them and access them with ease. Some of the chests for storing shoes come with a front pull out drawer that actually tips downward to reveal the inner shelves. All of these furniture items are available in several color options so you can easily match the type of décor your bedroom has.

It is not uncommon for some people to struggle with organization. This can be for a number of reasons, but many simply lack the knowledge and skill. A professional organizer can help a person get organized and hopefully stay organized. Choosing to hire a professional may ultimately save a person a great deal of time, money and frustration in their personal and professional lives.

If a person is struggling to keep track of items, appointments and even clients it is a good idea to hire a professional organizer. It is a waste of valuable time to constantly be searching for things and apologizing to family members, friends, clients and co-workers for missed meetings or other important dates.

Professionals can set up a work area, kitchen, bedroom or closet in a way that is functional and easy to maintain. The organizer will also help instruct an unorganized person on what they really need in a particular space and what is just unnecessary clutter. Clutter is probably one of the biggest hurdles to overcome when trying to become organized. Many people hold on to a particular item for years, just in case they may need it in the future.

An organizer will work with a client to establish what papers or items are frequently used throughout any given day. Other things that are necessary but not used as often will be placed in an area that allows them to be found easily, but not in the way. As an organizer works, he/she will give the client plenty of tips on how they can keep their space organized and functional.

Maybe one of the toughest places to keep organized is the home. The main reason for that is we never take the time to get things in order. With work, kids, and other obligations being organize seems always to be low on the list. Today though that is changing as we have some home organizing tips to help you get organized like never before.

One of the first things to home organizing is do not get overwhelmed. Many times, we try to get things organized all in one day and that is virtually impossible. Take one room at a time per day. When you try to do more than that, you lose focus on what you are doing and usually nothing will get organized. After you finish one room, make a list of things you must do to keep it organized on a weekly basis. If you can keep a checklist on each room, it will help you keep more organized. The checklist will eliminate clutter and you will find the rooms in your home to be much more organized. Get others in your home to help you get organized. If you have kids give them a room to get organized with a checklist. You will be surprised how willing they will be when given a checklist.

Getting your home organized takes time and keeping it that way also takes some work on your part and your family. Once you have a system in place, it will go much smoothly. Update your checklists as need to different things that could change in your home. Many times getting organized is just mind over matter, but a checklist sure makes it easier. Follow some of these tips to keep your home organized.

In todays busy, hectic world, it can be difficult to keep things tidy and organized. Things get thrown on the couch, left on the counter and dropped off at the stairs time and time again. What many people don’t realize is how much of a stress reliever having an organized home can be. Adding some organization and structure to your home can help make the home a more inviting, relaxing place for everyone. Often times, people don’t realize just how much stress and unrest they are adding to their daily lives by not taking the time to keep thigns organized.

The word organization often times brings up images of strict teachers or ridiculously clean homes. This does not have to be the case. By taking the time to organize certain areas of your home, you can make your life a little less hectic. By simply making small changes in ones home, the overall look and feel of the house can be changed drastically.
It doesn’t take hours each day or a strict cleaning schedule to get and stay organized. It just takes the right tools and the dedication to keep things in the right place.

By simply organizing a desk, you can make paying bills much less unpleasant. Linen closets can be tamed by simply designating each shelf for specific items. Bathroom vanities can be organized by adding simple storage containers. There is no need to be turned off by the word organization, instead embracing this idea can make your world a much more calm and pleasant place.

The kitchen is the busiest room in the house. This is where members of the family come and go and gather. When guests are present in the home it is no secret that the kitchen is where all the action takes place. Having an unorganized kitchen can cause unwanted stress and anxiety to any homeowner. There are simple and inexpensive ways to kitchen organization.

The first way to get your kitchen organized is to clean out unwanted or unused items. Start one cabinet or one drawer at a time. Doing this all at once can be overwhelming. Set a timer for 15 to 20 minutes and tackle one section. Do as much as you can on that particular section and stop when the timer beeps. It will be surprising how much will be cleaned out in that small amount of time. You will not only get closer to your goal, but you will have a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.

If you have not used an item in at least one year, then you do not need the item. It is taking up valuable space and should be donated, thrown away or sold. As you are cleaning out the area, decide if you can live without it and keep moving.

Once you have all of your cabinets and drawers cleaned out, then you should get them organized. You can purchase inexpensive caddies and bins to organize your shelves. Keep cabinets organized by item, and have a goal to put things exactly where they belong every time. An organized kitchen is within reach if you set your goals and stick to them!

Before organizing a home, you will need some tools. You’ll need a vacuum sweeper, broom, dusting cloth, trash cans or plastic bags for cleaning. Boxes and permanent markers will be needed for labeling.

First label the boxes with the words “donate, storage, and keep.” Now you have three boxes and a can or bag for trash. You can also use a bin to add recyclables.

Once the items are separated into the proper receptacle, you can determine if you want to invest in shelves or clear plastic bins for what is kept.

Under the bed is a good place for items that are not used often. With a large closet, you can move a dresser in or add shelving units. A good and less expensive way to go is storage crates that can be stacked against the wall of a closet. Use the top for pants and shirts, the bottom for shoes. Leave an opened space in the middle for dresses or long skirts. Instead of a nightstand with small drawers, get a 2-drawer filing cabinet. You can cover it with a tablecloth or piece of fabric to make it look nice.

Smaller storage crates are wonderful. You can use a couple for mail, one that needs immediate attention, the other for later. Utensil dividers are more than for keeping your silverware in order; they can organize small desktop items such as paper clips and rubber bands.
